Atlanta FaZe win Fero Memorial tournament

Atlanta FaZe took first place at the Fero Memorial tournament and only dropped two maps across the entire weekend.

Tributes flooded in for twenty-one year old Maurice “Fero” Henriquez after his unexpected death was announced last month.

The memorial tournament in honour of Fero consisted of 162 teams with a $5,850 prize pool. It took place in a double-elimination format with a best-of-five series in winners bracket and a best-of-three series in losers bracket.

It was hosted by tournament organiser Cheetowunga and matches were casted by upcoming talent including IHOLDSHIFT, ProperCasts, VisionZzCasts and 4Trixal.

Professional players as well as amateurs took part in the event with notable teams such as OpTic Chicago, Dallas Empire and Florida Mutineers on the team list.

How Atlanta FaZe won the Fero Memorial

The Atlanta FaZe roster consists of aBezy, Simp, Cellium and Arcitys. They began the tournament against Team SHP which they made light work of, beating them 3-0.

Atlanta then fought their way to the winners bracket where they met WestR, a team consisting of PaulEhx, Zaptius, Venom and GRVTY. The boys in red took the win and booked their place in the grand final.

It would then be a rematch in the grand final as Atlanta faced WestR once again. WestR failed for the second time to beat FaZe as they took the crown.

Arcitys reflected on his team’s win with a touching message as he called to make it an annual tournament.

Final Placements

1st Place: Atlanta FaZe ($4000) aBezy, Simp, Cellium, Arcitys

2nd Place: WestR ($1200) PaulEhx, Zaptius, Venom, GRVTY

3rd Place: Florida Mutineers ($600) Havok, Skyz, Owakening, Slacked

4th Place: Big Dawgs Prolutue, Optimum, Drazah, Davpadie

Dartfrog believes that the Fero Memorial tournament was a monumental effort from all involved and provided an outstanding display of talent across the weekend. The tournament was a perfect way to remember a player who shone brightly in the CoD community and will never be forgotten.

Top 5 greatest Call of Duty maps of all time

There are hundreds of maps to choose from in the Call of Duty series. Maps have often been a make or break for a Call of Duty title since the first game was released in 2003 to Black Ops Cold war which was released this month.

From chaotic and replayable maps like Nuketown and Shipment to maps catered towards competitive play, Call of Duty really has it all.

Whilst it’s impossible to name every top map there is, we have whittled every single map in the franchise down to what we believe are the 5 best maps of all time:

5. Fringe – Black Ops III (2015)

Map “Fringe” on Black Ops 3

Black Ops 3 was an immensely popular game due to its exciting, fast-paced and colourful nature. It was the second title, following 2014’s Advanced Warfare, to involve advanced movement with slides, jetpacks and wall-running. The movement on Black Ops 3 always felt clean and smooth and it’s a blessing that Treyarch complemented this with their map designs.

Despite the 2015 game having many impressive multiplayer maps, Fringe suited the gameplay to a tee. Its traditional three-lane style along with quirky wall-runs and varying range of gunfights made it the greatest map on Black Ops 3.

Whether you were playing Hardpoint, Uplink or Search and Destroy, Fringe was always a pleasure to play on.

4. Nuketown – Black Ops (2010)

Map “Nuketown” on Black Ops

Whether you are a Call of Duty fan or not, almost every gamer out there has heard of Nuketown. The infamous map has featured in every Treyarch game, including Black Ops Cold War.

It is a map that you can play over and over again without getting bored. The fast-paced gameplay in such a small area makes it an exhilarating experience and caters to all types of gamers.

Will we ever see a Black Ops game without Nuketown?

3. Crash – Modern Warfare (2007)

Map “Crash” on Modern Warfare

Modern Warfare was the Call of Duty title that really took the world by storm and will always remain one of the greatest titles in the series. Crash became a fan-favourite map on the game and still is to this day.

The iconic map was perfect for Search and Destroy and a well-balanced map suitable for all abilities. It was refurbished in the Modern Warfare Remastered multiplayer which brought the map to life as many players could enjoy it once again.

2. Terminal – Modern Warfare 2 (2009)

Map “Terminal” on Modern Warfare 2

Despite being one of the larger maps, Terminal has always been a fan-favourite. It was perfect for casual players, trick-shotters or even messing about in private matches with your friends

Terminal was also included in Modern Warfare 3 and later Infinite Warfare and it is always well-received. We can only hope that we stumble across this legendary map once again in future Infinity Ward titles.

1. Raid – Black Ops 2 (2012)

Map “Raid” on Black Ops 2

The top of our list is an all-time favourite and one that is widely regarded as the greatest of all time. Not only is Raid gorgeous to look at, its overall design is second to none and its gameplay is extremely balanced.

The map also featured on Treyarch’s Black Ops 4 as well as Call of Duty: Mobile. It is based in Los Angeles, California with amazing views over the Hills.

Raid has both close quarters areas and long range lanes, making it a perfect map for all players. Again, we hope to see this map return in the future as it will certainly never get old!

That’s our top 5 list of the greatest Call of Duty maps of all time.

What maps would you have included?

Black Ops Cold War: Top plays, best clutches & reactions so far

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was finally released to the public on November 13. After only a couple of days, we have seen plenty of amazing moments from the world’s best players.

Cold War is the fifth instalment in the Black Ops series and the eighth Call of Duty game developed by Treyarch.

Successful Alpha and Beta events left fans in eager anticipation for the new Call of Duty to be released. Expectations were high for this year’s release and it seems that it’s gone down a treat with players across the globe.

Here are some of the top moments post-release so far that you definitely won’t want to miss:

Snipers take centre stage in our top plays

The snipers in Cold War are popular amongst many players and seem to pack a real punch. Our first top play sees pro player, Dillon “Attach” Price, clutch a 1v3 with just a sniper and a pistol.

The pros have been running riot so far hitting clips left, right and centre. Unsurprisingly, three-time world champion, James “Clayster” Eubanks followed suit with a sniper-only 1v3 of his own.

https://twitter.com/Clayster/status/1327516950474403840

Our final top play sees FaZe Pamaj wipe out four players during a Search and Destroy in the $25k Atlanta FaZe Cold War Clash. The ease of his triple kill at the end of the clip shows why Pamaj remains one of the best snipers to ever grace the game.

Cold War’s best clutches

With so many to choose from, we could only pick out three of the best clutches so far. First up, Doug “Censor” Martin goes big for his team in a 1v3 against LA Guerillas’ academy team.

Many consider Damon “Karma” Barlow to be the GOAT of Call of Duty. This Search and Destroy clutch against former teammate Ian “Crimsix” Porter and co indicates why.

Brandon “Dashy” Otell never fails to amaze on the sticks. His ability to clutch in almost any circumstance makes him one of the most valuable pros in the league. Here is Dashy pulling off a 1v4 for $800.

https://twitter.com/DashySZN/status/1327624540239900674

The pros react to Cold War

Black Ops Cold War has seen predominantly positive feedback since the release of the full game. Professionals, content creators and even casual players seem to be enjoying Treyarch’s latest creation.

Every year, the professional CoD scene cries out for one thing – ranked play. However, it never seems to be released until months later and when it is, it causes a lot of controversy.

Seth “Scump” Abner was “genuinely confused” when speaking on the matter via Twitter. Will we ever see Call of Duty released with a popular ranked playlist? Who knows!

What are your thoughts on Black Ops Cold War?

LA Thieves officially join the Call of Duty League

After weeks of speculation the Los Angeles Thieves have joined the CDL for the 2021 season.

The franchise is owned by Nadeshot’s organisation, 100 Thieves, and will compete against the 11 other CDL franchises.

Rumours of 100 Thieves’ return to Call of Duty began circulating after it was reported that the organisation had acquired OpTic’s CDL spot.

The rumours have now been confirmed meaning that we will see fan favourites 100 Thieves back in competitive CoD once again.

However, this time the squad will be officially named Los Angeles Thieves making them the second LA-based franchise alongside LA Guerillas.

https://twitter.com/LAThieves/status/1324758533108215808

The Los Angeles roster will include: Austin “Slasher” Liddicoat, Kenny “Kuavo” Williams, Thomas “TJHaly” Haly and Zack “Drazah” Jordan.

This was the original roster that would have competed under OpTic Gaming LA before they were bought out by Nadeshot and 100 Thieves.

100 Thieves entered competitive CoD in 2016 during the Black Ops 3 season. Their stay was short-lived however as they then left and did not return until the 2018/19 Black Ops 4 season.

The team performed very well in Black Ops 4 and gained a huge following whilst doing so.

They won both CWL Anaheim and CWL London as well as coming second in the CWL Championship 2019.

Fans were extremely disappointed that 100 Thieves were not participating in the Call of Duty League introduced last year.

Despite opting out of purchasing a spot last year, Nadeshot felt that now was the right time to enter the league.

Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez, who was rumoured to have bought OpTic Gaming back, is thought to have sold the franchise to good friend Nadeshot.

Eric “Muddawg” Sanders will retain his position of General Manager under the LA Thieves. He exceled in this role during 100 Thieves impressive season in 2018/19.

Are you happy to see the 100 Thieves brand back in Call of Duty?

London Royal Ravens announce roster ahead of CDL 2021 season

With the CDL season right around the corner, London Royal Ravens become the next team to announce their four-man roster.

The roster contains some familiar faces, including the coaching staff. Dylan, Zer0 and Seany have made a return to the all-British squad whilst Alexx joined on a transfer from Minnesota Rokkr.

Dominate, Ravens’ head coach, has returned to his former role on the team. Shane has also joined the team once again but this time will take the role of assistant head coach.

To the surprise of many, twin brothers Skrapz and Wuskin were left out of the squad this year despite having a huge presence in the roster last year.

With the four-man squad confirmed and locked in, let’s take a closer look at the new Ravens.

Sean “Seany” O’Connor

The Scottish phenom, Seany, has been a top player in the UK scene over the past five years. He seems to fit in to any team that he finds himself on and his talent always shines through.

Despite not having any major wins, Seany can undoubtedly compete among the best and it will only be a matter of time before he secures a chip.

Trei “Zer0” Morris

Like Seany, Zer0 has been competing in the scene for the past five years. His most notable performances being under Splyce and Red Reserve where he found some success.

Zer0 performed well last year under the Ravens but he will surely look to improve and bring one home for the Brits.

Thomas “Dylan” Henderson

https://twitter.com/DylanCOD_/status/1321850591308558337

Dylan has “got a lot to prove” after no success last year on the London franchise. He is one of the most talented players in the scene and is well-known for his outrageous plays.

He has only recently made his mark at the top of the pile after joining Reciprocity in 2019. However, his short time in the limelight has gained him a large following and respect due to his rare talent on the sticks.

It will be interesting to see how he performs with new addition and former teammate Alexx this year.

Alex “Alexx” Carpenter

Alexx, like Dylan, has only been around the professional scene in the last two to three years. However, he has proven why so many teams are keen to snap him up with consistent impressive performances.

Dylan, Seany and Alexx all reunite after parting ways from Reciprocity last year. The squad will be eager to prove people wrong and win some trophies for the UK fans.

Top 5 highest earning FIFA players from 2019-20 season

The FIFA 20 season was unlike any other season in the history of the esport. After a giant shift to online gameplay, pro players competed for prizes from the comfort of their own home.

A below par total of $1,144,673.72 was awarded in prizes during FIFA 20 over 39 tournaments. This sum makes it the lowest prize money total since FIFA 17 three years ago.

Matches were played under different circumstances than normal, but they were entertaining nonetheless. Despite the widespread issues caused by the pandemic, the season still went ahead and was arguably a big success.

With the help of Esports Earnings, we have broken down the top five highest earning players from a very turbulent year of competing. (Prize money only).

5. Msdossary – $42,000

Msdossary is considered one of the greatest FIFA players in the world. He won the FIFA eWorld Cup in 2018 and has a total of $568,865.00 earnt in his career.

Last season the Saudi Arabian placed second in the FUT Champions Cup Stage 4 and first place in the Middle East and Africa Summer Cup series. Although his performances weren’t up to his usual standard, the online format and his home location undoubtedly hindered his gameplay to some extent.

4. Zezinho – $57,500

Zezinho is a Brazilian born FIFA player who competes under DUX Gaming. He has earned a total of $115,500 in his career with last year being his highest income by far.

The 21-year-old won the FUT Champions Cup Stage 4 alongside average placings in other tournaments across the year. Now on a new team, it will be interesting to see if he can carry his form into next season.

3. Ollelito – $61,607.12

The Swedish star had an impressive season considering the change in format. He won the FUT Champions Cup Stage 3 and also won the European Summer Cup Series.

His talent truly shone last year and he proved that he can compete among the top dogs. Ollelito’s future in competitive FIFA looks very bright.

2. NRaseck – $62,000

NRaseck has been in the competitive FIFA scene for many years. His total earnings amount to an impressive $157,409.43.

The German won FUT Champions Cup Stage 3 on November 24, 2019. He also placed third in the eChampions League 2020 invitational under his new team, Guild Esports.

1. TekKz – $79,802.47

TekKz is one of the most talented young esports competitors in the world. At the age of 18, his total career earnings of $377,927.47 is almost hard to believe.

The youngster looked strong early on in last year’s campaign. He won FUT Champions Cup Stage 1, however, his next title didn’t arrive until August 2020 where he took the eChampions League crown.

Haunting of Verdansk: Top Warzone moments & reactions

Call of Duty released the Haunting of Verdansk update on October 20 in one of their biggest events to date.

The new update includes brand new limited time modes and a bunch of spooky features that have provided us with some great moments since the release.

From Night Mode to Zombie Royale, the Halloween themed update has proven to be a hit so far. The attention to detail in not only the game modes but the aesthetics across Verdansk is one of the many reasons why this update has been so well-received by the CoD community.

Streamers and pro players alike have been engrossed in Warzone since the update.

Let’s take a look at some of the top moments so far in the Haunting of Verdansk:

Courage and Tim fall victim to the jumpscares

Players received the fright of their lives after discovering the spooky jump scares hidden inside boxes.

Streamers, Courage and timthetatman, found out the hard way as they both got one hell of a shock after opening what they thought were regular loot boxes.

The jump scares produce pure comedy gold and have caught out nearly everyone since the update.

As there are so many hilarious reactions, here is another one from ex-pro player Sharp who was merely attempting to get himself some more loot.

Censor & co break Zombie Royale world record

The new Zombie Royale LTM has been a fan favourite so far and is extremely fun to play.

Players can fight against and alongside zombies in this hectic game mode where the last squad with a surviving Operator wins.

Well-known CoD personalities Censor, Rallied and MuTeX supposedly set the new world record for Zombie Royale with 116 kills.

Many pro players and content creators have expressed their love for this new game mode. Infinity Ward seem to have smashed it with the new update and have received hardly any criticisms.

A clip from HusKerrs stream shows just how powerful these zombies are and why players are having so much fun in the new update.

We can only hope for more updates like this in the future after the release of Cold War.

Are you a fan of the new update?
